I really related to:

I know a writer who says her entire purpose as a writer is to entertain and as a writer, that grates on me. It’s not mine also as you said, it’s part of it. I mean we wouldn’t read if we weren’t entertained by reading but the way entertainment is so corrupted today, I hate the term. Everything is designed “to entertain.”
But I digress. I’ll save this to reread (because yes to Nabokov) and for the books mentioned. Delicious!
