It's quite reassuring to know that others are as overstimulated as I am.

Such great advice. Maybe it's like compulsively doing barbell curls all day. Your arms are going to be jelly, useless if you keep using them over and over and over again without rest.

This is so true. I love to ruminate, I’m tired of being against it. Except there are times where I go overboard.

Haha, I don’t think I ever read something more relatable!

Spectacular advice. I try do this through nature walks (albeit I am deathly afraid of accidentally 127 Hours-ing myself or running into a hungry mountain lion).

The mind, like nature, abhors a vacuum. One of the benefits of trying to do nothing is that you can’t stop witnessing everything that is and everything that’s doing all around you, Or, as Bob Dylan once said when asked what his influences were, “Open your eyes and ears and you’re influenced.” So, once again, thank you Shannan. But I have to confess, you’re never boring so I’ll have to go elsewhere to practice this.

Yes! I was so burned out yesterday and could not think at all (even having a real, live deadline didn't help) so I turned everything off and lay on the floor doing nothing for at least 15 minutes. It wasn't long enough but it was a start! Great advice. We're all so swamped. I read way too many Substack posts each day (but they're so good!!).

Silence is key, being outside unfettered by society is key, we desperately need recess for all age groups

Apparently sitting up and staring at a wall is also the best way of curing insomnia

wise words with spunk--and this sentence I'd like not to forget: "That’s where the weird stuff lives, though — in the sweet dull dark nothing of it all."
